Morning Reflections

Waking up to a text from a former player, telling you how much you’ve impacted their life, is one of those soul-deep reminders of why I coach. It’s not just about basketball—it’s about purpose, about pouring into others, about mentoring and uplifting young women. Coaching, for me, is a calling. It’s a blessing to wake up every day and do what I love, knowing that the seeds planted years ago continue to grow. Being a coach has become more than just guiding athletes to victories or overcoming challenges. It’s about shaping young hearts and minds, helping them believe in their potential, and inspiring them to chase their dreams. Watching them set high standards, navigate the ups and downs, and rise after every fall is where the real joy comes from. The fulfillment? It’s unexplainable, but it’s a joy that settles deep within my spirit, a joy that satisfies the soul. It’s in those moments of growth and resilience that I realize the deeper purpose of this journey. Bridesmaid for the Last Time

Let me tell you, being a bridesmaid is not for the faint of heart. I’ve had the honor of standing beside several close friends as they tied the knot, each with their own unique styles and very specific requests. And with every wedding, I reminded myself it wasn’t about how I felt but about how much I loved them and wanted to see their wedding dreams come true. Some dresses hugged my body like a dream, others… well, let’s just say I was grateful for my self-confidence. Yet, despite the fashion hits and (many) misses, they all wanted me to be a part of their special day, and that’s what really mattered. But after turns as a bridesmaid, I’ve made a vow of my own: no more weddings unless I’m sitting in the guest section with a plate of cake! Well, there’s one exception—if my sister Asialyn decides to walk down the aisle, you know I’ll be there in a heartbeat. And fine, maybe for my nephew, too. The music selection was on point, perfectly setting the tone for the evening. And the bar? Wow. Not only is it visually impressive, but their collection of bourbons is nothing short of delightful. If you’re a fan of sipping on something smooth, this is the place to be. We kicked things off with their happy hour wings, and let me tell you—these wings? Come on!
